March 2014 marks Minster’s 10th anniversary in specialist distribution. We’ve come a long way since we opened our first branch in Croydon in 2004!
Over the last decade we have seen and overcome many challenges which have helped to secure our success and rapid growth.
Despite fierce competition as new entrant to the market, we became the UK’s fastest growing insulation distributor by opening ten branches within 18 months of operation and we now have a strong nationwide network of 18 branches across the country.
Throughout the years, we have achieved a number of industry accolades such as: A silver RoSPA award for Health and Safety, One Million Lost Time Accident Free hours milestone from the CPA (Construction Products Association), ISO 14001 and Chain of Custody Accreditation to name a few.
The industry has also faced its own challenges and inevitably adapted to these changes since 2004. The insulation and dry lining industry had been experiencing steady growth until the recession in 2008 which led to a decrease in the size of the market.
One of the ways that the industry did overcome this was by becoming a much more multi-disciplined market place were the present workforce is now multi-skilled and flexible. These changes have also had a knock on effect for suppliers and distributors, who have had to change the products they stock to offer a broader range.
Looking ahead to the next 10 years, there are a number of factors that will continue to rise up the agenda. We are already seeing the growing influence that sustainability has and will continue to have on the construction supply chain. Building regulations are consistently revised in order to maximise efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
Technology will definitely play a huge part in the type of materials used, operational processes and customer experience. Everything will need to become slicker and faster, and innovative products will start to a flood the market.
Learning and developing from ten years in the industry, we’re looking forward to further success in the next decade and beyond.
